I am so excited to have reached this point, Communion Connection has been born. Months of praying, planning, researching, developing, and yes, struggling have brought us to here. My very first blog post, kind of a big deal right. Maybe not, but, it sure feels like it. Where are my manners though, an introduction would be appropriate. I’m your blog and podcast host, Josh Smith. Pastor Josh Smith to be exact, but titles aren’t really a big deal to me so I welcome you to think of me as Josh.
I am looking forward to growing an online community/ family that centers around devotionals and communion. In my next post I will begin to cover more in depth some of my thoughts as well as biblical precedence about communion. However, for now, I am keeping it to an introduction so let me tell you a little about myself. Don’t worry, I’ll keep it brief.
My wife Rachel and I (you can see our picture on our about page) have been married for twenty-five years. We had five unique, talented, and beautiful children before deciding to add on two more for good measure through adoption. If you think the sheer numbers sound crazy, my wife the superwoman, home-schooled them all. We have always felt called to ministry so in 2013 we started schooling and internships through the Assemblies of God Kentucky School of Ministry. I am a licensed minister with the Assemblies as well as my wife being certified.
My pastor asked me to join him as a part of the leadership team to serve our local church early in 2018. What started as a general service to the church as well as ministry growth training with my pastor later developed into an opportunity for my wife and I to serve as children’s church pastors. Earlier this year we were placed in this official capacity. Working with kids from 4-12 years old has been a true joy and challenge.
That brings us current, today, August 25, 2019. I am looking forward to meeting many, many believers who will make a communion connection with us through my podcast, blog, and future YouTube videos. I pray that you would consider being in community with us and that you would experience the blessing of the Lord’s presence. Please bookmark this site and subscribe to the podcast when it goes live in a few days. God bless, Josh
